Cage Nuts Product Describsion

Cage nuts are Befast Fastener’s main product. We are a manufacturer and also a supplier of these nuts. While producing and supplying these nuts, we also produce bolts, washers and other fastener products used in conjunction with them.

The cage nuts  we produce are generally classified according to whether the material is carbon steel or stainless steel. More specific classifications are as follows:

Carbon steel cage nuts are generally classified according to strength levels. The more common strength levels are: 4, 8, 10, and 12. Among them, nuts with grade 8 or above are generally called high-strength nuts(high tensile nuts).Stainless steel cage nuts are generally classified according to different materials. The more common stainless steel materials are SUS201 SUS304 SUS316

In addition to different materials and strengths, the biggest impact on cage nuts is surface treatment. The follocage are the more common surface treatments for these nuts: black oxide, black zinc, zinc plated (ZP), color zinc plating (CZP /YZP), hot dip galvanized (HDG), dacromet coating, etc.

Cage Nuts Production Process

Cage nuts are sent from the raw material line to the final product. They generally go through the following process:
Annealing of raw materials – pickling – drawing – forming – grinding – heat treatment – surface treatment – classification – packaging – shipping

Cage Nuts Application fields

Cage nuts are frequently employed to install equipment in 19-inch racks with square holes, which is the most prevalent type, featuring a square-hole size of 0.375 inches (9.5 mm). There are four common sizes: UNF 10–32 and, to a lesser extent, UNC 12–24, are commonly utilized in the United States. In other regions, M5 (5 mm outside diameter and 0.8 mm pitch) is used for light and medium equipment, while M6 is employed for heavier equipment such as servers.

Despite the availability of bolt-free mounting options for some modern rack-mount equipment that are compatible with square-hole racks, cage nuts remain a common choice for mounting many rack-mount components.
